Cherry Hill Personal Injury Lawyers: Northeast Philadelphia Family Attacked by Newly Adopted Pit Bull
March 19, 2015
Three people were injured in a vicious dog attack in Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. Nicole Keppol, her 11 year old son, and 10 year old daughter were at home with their newly adopted pit bull when the dog attacked, biting all three of their arms. The children managed to run out of the house to a neighbor’s house, and Keppol locked herself in a bathroom until help arrived.
Thirty-three year old Keppol and her daughter were treated for their injuries at Aria-Torresdale Hospital and released. Keppol’s son’s arm was severely mangled in the attack. He is being treated at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and was expected to undergo reconstructive surgery to repair his arm Wednesday night.
According to police, the family had recently adopted the two year old pit bull from Philadelphia Animal Care and Rescue. Philadelphia Animal Care and Control Team (ACCT) employees said that the dog was friendly and had been deemed safe for adoption, yet two days after being brought home the pit bull viciously attacked his adoptive family.
